A Bohemian Flavour
If one word could be used to describe Restaurant L'Independent, it would be "inventive." Located just minutes away from Beaudry metro, there is little that is predictable about this colourful, young-spirited restaurant. One does not usually encounter veal ravioli with Chinese cabbage on the same menu as bison ribs! Beef anglaise and sausage crostini with Portobello mushrooms are a few more of the highlights. Potential desserts include a "trilogy of sorbet", chocolate truffle, crème brulee and St. Honoré cheese cake. This culinary dynamism is complimented by the visual artwork adorning the walls.

Going Local
With the exception of the sorbet, everything at L'Independent is homemade. This "keep it local" approach also extends to the barest ingredients. For example, all of the cheeses are products of Quebec. The wine list may not be voluminous, but it has been painstakingly designed to compliment L'Independent's unique flavour.

Festival Hot-Spot
L'Independent's location is every bit as exciting as its menu. Sitting at the entrance to Ste. Catherine East it is at the hub of many of Montreal's most exhilarating festivals. If you're in town for Gay Pride, the Jazz Festival or African Nights, you'll never be more than ten blocks away. There are also numerous clubs and bars for you entertainment within the immediate vicinity. L'Independent is one of the few restaurants serving fine French cuisine in the area.
