House of class
Open since 1950, Le Caveau has earned an enviable reputation for French cuisine in downtown Montreal. Housed in a three-storey Victorian residence dating back to 1901, it’s a throwback to the old fashioned European homes built for quality. Restaurant Le Caveau embodies the class of France with traditional country-style design. The decor is accented by sturdy, aged wood detail and warm lighting, creating a cozy ambience.

Traditional treats
Serving up to 175 guests per meal, the chef prepares traditional French dishes full of unique taste and vibrant colours. Taste the duck confit, raspberry veal, various tartars, rack of lamb, or shrimps and scallops in Pernod liquor. Not in the mood for meats, try the vegetarian plate. Appetizers consist of salmon, smoked mackerel, and foie gras in Porto and cognac, while lobster bisque and French onion soup are also on the menu.

Sweeter things
For dessert, customers can choose from various home-made creations, including the famous Quebec maple pie, melting chocolate cake, and numerous flakey pastries. Le Caveau houses a generous wine list, with many labels also served by the glass. The mostly French names range from vintages to the most potent Bordeaux. Restaurant goers can enjoy meals on the terrace or in one of their private rooms, good for six to 40 people. Group menus are available.
