After undergoing a series of renovations, the Palais de Congres opens its doors to the world of international business and cultural conferences. Upon completion of an expansion project undertaken by the Societe du Palais des congres de Montreal, the Palais de Congres covers an entire city block bordered by Viger Avenue to the north, Saint-Antoine Street to the south, Saint-Urbain Street to the east and Bleury Street to the west.
Tons of Amenities
And as if that wasn't enough reason to attract the most important exhibitions of the day, the Palais de Congres has meeting room capacities of 65 rooms and consequently boasts 200,000 square feet of exhibition space. Other services include 18 loading docks, entrances at Bleury and Viger streets, two bus terminals and two indoor parking lots for a total of 1600 parking spaces.
Two Conferences at Once
The venue of choice for nine out of 10 major international conferences, the expanded Palais de Congres can play host to two separate mid-sized conventions at the same time. Built in the expectation that the economic spin-offs would provide a major boost to Montreal's tourist industry, the Palais de Congres expansion project was funded by the Quebec provincial government who invested a total of $240 million to get the project off the ground. An ambitious development plan that promises to pay huge dividends for many years to come, the Palais de Congres has helped Montreal to solidify its position as one of the most prestigious international business cities in North America.
