Diners will feel transported to cosmopolitan Paris as they take in the freshly waxed black and white floor tiles, bright lighting, animated conversations and vast array of French dishes. Nobody gets bored here! Artists, intellectuals and business people have regularly frequented this establishment since 1980, seated at a great table or chatting by the long bar. The sophisticated yet unpretentious waiters are knowledgeable and courteous. In fact, the elegant staff has been immortalized in framed black and white photos displayed on the canary yellow and mahogany walls.
What You Will Find
For more than 25 years, meals at L'Express have stretched out for hours thanks to an elaborate a la carte menu and daily specials. The popular chef, Joel Chapoulie, presents over 15 starters and main courses such as his famous fish soup with Gruyere croutons, steak tartar and steak-frites. Whether you choose the veal liver with tarragon or else the cured duck meat, make sure to save some room for homemade desserts such as pies (chocolate, apple, tatin) or for the renowned île flottante that patrons request on almost every visit.
Worth Noting
The place is also renowned for its wine cellar and affordably priced titles (wine can also be ordered by the glass or half-bottle). Reservations are recommended.
