This restaurant might specialize in the delicious simmered meal known as cassoulet, but it also offers other typically French meals that are not as light. Truly a piece of France in Motnreal, la Toulousaine is as addictive as it is humble, and the prices remain respectable. The staff is kind and gracious, which is always a plus.
Other than the cassoulet, a stew of white beans and meat, la Toulousaine also offers veal liver, pork Provencal, Toulouse sausage, Perigord rillettes, veal or lamb kidneys, but especially, the duck, served with foie gras, confits and other rich delights! Definitely not the spot to start your new diet, it is renowned for its comforting and simmered cuisine. The menu of the day includes appetizer and dessert.
A Trip to Languedoc
A small restaurant of barely 35 spots but with definite charm, la Toulousaine recreates the ambience of a simple Languedoc farm. Its rustic decorations combines woodwork, frames and the white and pink tablecloths to create an enjoyable laidback atmosphere. This small restaurant might advertise as your friendly neighbourhood bar, but it is seductively more.
