A Life-Saving Organization
They provide and develop expertise along with specialized and innovative services and products in the fields of transfusion medicine and human tissue transplantation. The organization relies heavily on volunteer support for recruiting donors (telephone recruitment), organizing blood drives and helping out at the blood donor clinics. Every volunteer, whether a donor, telephone recruiter or blood drive organizer or helper, can be proud of the fact that they are helping to save the lives of thousands of Quebecers. Every year, more than a million volunteer hours are devoted to maintaining the collective blood supply.

Give to Live
Every day, hospitals require blood and by-products of blood donations to treat their patients. It is often a matter of life or death. Every year, Québec’s hospitals use approximately 400,000 units of blood products to meet the needs of over 75,000 patients. To meet this overwhelming demand, Héma-Québec operates three full-time blood donor clinics at Place Versailles (7275 Sherbrooke St. East), 4045 Côte-Vertu Boulevard in Ville St-Laurent, and in Place Laurier in Ste-Foy (2700 Laurier Blvd.). They must collect a minimum of 1,000 donations per day to meet Quebecers’ needs. Those interested in becoming a donor should note that there are strict donor qualification criteria and should contact Héma-Québec to ensure that they meet the requirements for blood donation.

Find a Drive Near You
Héma-Québec is both a national organization and a community-focused agency. On an annual basis, they welcome an average of 300,000 donors at approximately 3,000 blood drives that are organized by the community at large to meet its needs.
