As the rising cost of medical care continues to be a point of friction between the provinces and federal government, the Government of Quebec has taken a unique approach with their province wide network of Centres Local de Services Communautaires (CLSC). A vital part of Quebec's healthcare plan, Montreal area CLSCs continue to bridge the gap between overcrowded hospitals and the medical needs of our city.
Boasting a total of 147 centres throughout Quebec, the CLSC provides a variety of essential services that many Montrealers couldn't do without, including medical consultations, first aid and other medical procedures, house calls for invalids, healthcare services, social services, school health services and much more.
Neighbourhood Health Clinic
Intended as a neighbourhood health clinic, the CLSC can also help direct you to the appropriate healthcare institution best equipped to handle certain problems and medical procedures that they do not perform. Operating with a mission to promote better health via preventative and curative measures, the CLSC can provide you with tonnes of booklets and pamphlets on a variety of healthcare topics.
Info-Sante help-line: The CLSC Info-Sante help-line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Payment: Free with health card, except for pregnancy tests (cash).
