Multi-Purpose Community Centre
Run by the Association du Centre Pierre-Charbonneau, in partnership with the City of Montreal, this community centre offers Montrealers artistic, cultural, sporting, community, environmental, recreation and scientific activities. Opened in 1960 by a group of avant-garde professionals, the object of Centre Pierre-Charbonneau is to provide East Montrealers with an outlet for their diverse cultural activities. Since there are so many different ethnicities living in Montreal, the centre offers a place of unity, where all cultures and religions are accepted.

Artistic and Cultural Sector
In addition to offering a space for the community to hold concerts, plays, exhibits, screenings, festival activities, and various other performances, the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau also offers numerous music, dance, painting, ceramics, pottery and drawing courses—often at both the beginner and elite levels—at very affordable prices. A membership card is very affordable; it is valid for the whole year and allows members to have access to all activities, sports and lessons.

Sports Sector
In addition to common gym sports such as badminton and volleyball, the centre also offers an array of martial arts programs and courses. There is a karate club that focuses on the Shotokan style, there is a tae-kwondo school, and extensive judo program and a tai chi course offered to Montrealers. There are also fitness courses offered to people with special needs, pregnant women and the elderly, including aerobics, yoga, holistic gymnastics and power yoga. Furthermore, the Kids’ Clubs promote an active lifestyle for children, while the Health Club promotes healthy well-being of body, mind and soul.
