A Little Taste of Italy
You do not necessarily have to travel to Little Italy in Montreal’s North End to get a taste of "lo stivale" ("the boot"). In the heart of Westmount, Cavallaro is representing its country quite well. An authentic Italian bakery, deli, grocer and café all rolled into one cannelloni, Cavallaro is the real thing.

Walk into the bright, clean space on Sherbrooke Street and you will find a long counter stretching to the back of the store where freshly-baked bread and wedges of imported cheeses sit alongside stacked rows of Italian meats, prepared pasta dishes and olives. The bread is baked on the premises and cools on racks above trays of square Italian-style pizzas in the sunlight of the large storefront windows. The cheeses vary from European varities such as Italian mozarella and mortadella, Swiss, French gruyère and ementhal to local Quebec varieties like Oka. Towards the back of the store you can choose from mouth-watering Italian meats and various varieties of plump olives. If you just cannot wait to try the food before you get home, take a seat on the sidewalk terrace or inside the store and enjoy it with a fresh espresso.

As a grocer, Cavallero carries an impressive array of fine, imported Italian products.
