Opened in the early nineties, EXTC is named after the rave culture that was at its height during that time. There were not many boutiques catering to the fashion needs of the electronic music lovers. This store’s dedicated clientele includes university students from around the world, with schools just a few blocks away.
Stylin’ Collections
At EXTC, customers can find different brands and styles for women, at a wide price range. They are large supporters of Canadian brands, but also import duds from the US and Europe. C'est Moi and Delicious, as well as Splendid and Ella Moss clothing are carried by this store. The denim collection consists of Guido and Mary, a homegrown Montreal brand, and Second and Dish jeans. There are sunglasses designed by Diesel, Marc by Marc, JLo and Armani Exchange, and shoes by DSquared, Michael Kors, Irregular Choice, and Adidas.
Mood Music
Racks of funky clothing fill this store’s walls, making their merchandise their décor. The high ceilings and wood floors add to the comfortable and relaxing environment. Customers can also enjoy the scene setting music, from old school hip-hop, funk and soul, to 1980s disco, acoustic, and almost anything electronic. Upcoming events at the local clubs are taped to the cash register, making sure clientele is always aware of what’s going on in their neighbourhood. A huge window encompasses the front of the store where the newest collections are on display.
