Centre of the Action
At the crossroads of three of Montreal’s busiest neighbourhoods – the McGill Ghetto, Downtown, and the Plateau – Bistro Isakaya seems to be making compromises to welcome and appeal to just everyone. They’re reasonably priced menu seems aimed at student passing to and fro. The eloquent presentation of their dishes seems meant for trendy Plateau hipsters. Finally, even though Isakaya is primarily a dinner venue, the short lunch window has working professionals in mind. Indeed, Isakaya is making the absolute most of their location.

Warm and Welcoming
Probably still keeping the diversity of their clientele in mind, Isakaya’s atmosphere can make nearly anyone feel comfortable. Not quite casual, but not quite formal, it’s no surprise that you’ll find suits, laid back students and trendy fashionistas eating side by side. The tables are humble, the ambiance is bright and warm, and the fine touches make the experience quintessentially Japanese and modern. Diners might easily imagine that their visiting a bona fide Tokyo diner.

Traditional and Progressive Menu
From appetizers, to sushi, to their grilled specialties, Isakaya offers an intriguing selection of Japanese flavours. Lunch specials begin with a choice of salad, miso, or noodle soup. The meal then features salads, sushi, and grilled delights and conclude with dessert. The more extensive dinner menu, moreover, includes a tantalizing array of appetizers, as well a choice of main to appeal to most anyone. While a respectable selection of sushi and sashimi awaits the traditionalist, more adventurous diners can indulge in maki and cornet with ingredients as exotic as spicy Cajun seared salmon. Indeed, even Isakaya’s flavours seem to be as eclectic as their clientele.
