In 1942, Hymnie and Freda Sckolnick decided to open a small business in Montreal's Jewish district where locals and workers from neighbouring manufacturing plants could enjoy a good lunch. Since then, the little diner with the blue booths has served celebrated brunches to several generations of clients and celebrities. The press clippings and photos on the walls attest to the eatery's longevity and excellence.
Beauty’s is known for its breakfasts. You can have eggs any way you like, scrambled, sunny side up or over easy. Accompany those with some ham, sausage and tasty home fries. Try the Beauty's Special: a bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomato and onion. Or, try one of their many omelettes. You can even order blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes. All desserts are homemade, like the banana cake and rice pudding. You can also have a Beauty's fresh fruit smoothie.
Cozy Counter Eating
Beauty’s has a cozy coffee shop look and can seat 70. You can even have your meal at the counter. Unlike some other breakfast spots, Beauty's also serves up great lunch food like salads, burgers and sandwiches. There are tiled floors, blue booths and the bar has a stainless steel back. Don't panic over the weekend line up. It moves along quite nicely thanks to a highly trained and efficient staff.
