Frequented by hordes of local residents, Barros Luco has gained a remarkable reputation that now extends far beyond the borders of its location. Known throughout Montreal as one of the pre-eminent Chilean eateries in town, the secret to Barros Luco's success remains a subtle combination of fresh, homemade food offered at unbelievably low prices.
Try A Famous Barros Luco!
The restaurant is famous for their delicious self-titled Barros Luco sandwiches, which is made with steak, tomatoes, avocados and cheese. Named after a former President of Chile who was known to indulge in sandwiches of a similar nature, the Barros Luco sandwich is a meal in itself. Plus it comes served on a homemade bun made at the Barros Luco bakery.
Chilean Delicacies
While the Barros Luco remains the restaurant's main best-seller, other tasty Chilean delicacies served at this unique fast-food joint include: empanadas (with cheese, chicken, spinach, seafood or beef), corn pate (a Chilean-style quiche made with olives, eggs and chicken covered in a corn-based sauce), fish platters, and chicken with rice and salad.
Sweet Endings
To top things off for dessert, Barros Luco recommends a special homemade dessert called alfojar. Made with three biscuits, caramel sauce and crushed coconuts, this is one delicacy you don’t want to miss. As a final note, diners are highly encouraged to try one of their exotic juices made from fresh tropical fruits, like mango, apricot, peach and banana, before finally settling up the bill. This unique restaurant is a favourite to many.
