Strictly Ballroom
Perhaps the only thing that former patrons of le Swimming will recognize, in its new form as Balroom Bar, is the marble staircase that one has to climb to get to the entrance of this second-floor nightspot. Reopened in 2005, under new ownership, Ballroom Bar has otherwise completely changed its stripes. As its name suggests, this St-Laurent bar has chosen as its theme the magic of the grand ballroom era. It has been decorated accordingly. The abundance of gold and wood finishes, stylish lamps, metallic diner-style bar stools and plush leather booths all combine to create a cozy, Art Deco ambience.

Dance Dance
For enthusiastic dancers who would like to try some of their more risqué moves, several golden dance poles are featured around the floor. Like its predecessor, Ballroom Bar remains a very large room. The bars - two huge ones in the front and one smaller in the back - are spacious and accessible.

No evening Gowns Required
Despite the upscale overhaul, Ballroom Bar remains a warm and unpretentious place to enjoy a drink and meet people. The clientele ranges in age from 25-35 and includes everyone from university students to young professionals who come to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. On different nights of the week, DJs spin various styles of music, such as house, soul, R&B, hip-hop and reggae. Ballroom Bar also lends itself to being reserved for any occasion, be it a birthday, a launch or a private party.
