The trip back in time through 4.5 billion years has been divided up into geons (periods of 100 million years) for easier understanding. It's a good way of avoiding the complex names of all the geological eras, without sacrificing scientific accuracy. This idea comes not from Cyano, however, but from Hans J. Hofmann, a professor and researcher at the Université de Montréal, one of the world's few experts in Precambrian paleontology. He not only identified and dated the rock discovered in Abitibi, but also helped design the Fossil Affair exhibition.
