Massive Attack, one of the UK’s most iconic acts, released their fifth studio album Heligoland in February this year to huge critical acclaim. The Bristol collective have sold in excess of 10 million records to date. Its core members are Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall but they enlist different collaborators for each album. Heligoland features Guy Garvey from Elbow, Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz), reggae veteran and long time collaborator Horace Andy, Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio and Martina Topley Bird who featured on fellow Bristolian Tricky’s debut album Maxinquaye. Their live gigs feature a stunning LED light show, devised with ongoing collaborators United Visual Artists, whose work has been seen in London’s V&A Museum.
Thievery Corporation is a Washington, D.C.-based recording artist and DJ duo consisting of Rob Garza, Eric Hilton, and their supporting artists. Their infectious live show features 15 musicians and a carousel of performers unlike any other live band playing today. In 2009, Thievery Corporation sold out 5 consecutive nights at Washington, DC’s 9:30 Club and recently finished a 13 date European tour including Morocco, Rome, Athens, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam.
